Guide to Haris - Hanken's research database

Register your datasets

Research data and related published research results produced at Hanken are published openly available for shared use. Properly documented metadata of research data are published for the findability and reproducibility of the research data. It is strongly recommended to use Fairdata Qvain metadata tool to describe and publish your (meta)data in line with the FAIR data principles. Qvain is part of the Fairdata services offered by the Ministry of Education and Culture and maintained by CSC. For more information, please see Metadata and data documentation in the LibGuide on Research data management (RDM).

Research data are to be archived and opened in national or international repositories when possible. You can find information on where to publish and archive your research data and how to choose suitable repositories for sharing and opening your data in Publishing and sharing data.

Datasets are registered in Haris with the persistent identifiers (e.g., DOI or URN) for the (meta)data. The template to register datasets in Haris is here:

You can register both standalone datasets and datasets that are connected to a publication.

If a publication has a relating dataset, create two separate records in Haris – one for the publication, and the other for the dataset. The records can then be connected under the heading Relations to other content in the template.

Under "Data availability," add the persistent identifiers (PIDs, e.g., DOI or URN) you have obtained from, for example, Qvain and/or the data repository, for your metadata and/or data.

The information you have registered in Haris about your datasets will be transferred to Etsin (research dataset finder, also part of the Fairdata services) and displayed on the Ministry's Finnish National Information Hub/Tutkimustietovaranto research.fi/forskning.fi/tiedejatutkimus.fi, as well as on Haris public portal.

It is not possible to upload files in the record for datasets in Haris.
